Beyond the view
Start at Troutbeck Church. If you are coming from Windermere, there is parking on the little lane on the left before you get to the church. Walk back along the main road for 100 metres and take the track on the opposite side of the road up the hill. Follow the path to Moorhowe Road. Allen Knott is just above, but when you get to the road, turn right down the hill and follow the footpath on the left hand side that takes you beneath Allen Knott.
When you are able to access the summit slopes, climb up to the summit. This is a fantastic, but little frequented, viewing point over the whole of the Lake District, the perfect place for a ‘secret selfie’. Return the way you came.
The temptation at the top is to identify the features you’re looking at, but we encourage you to look beyond the view and just ‘be’ in this magnificent spot. How can you take this summit experience into your everyday life?
You might want to reflect on this line: ‘the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of God’s hands’.
